Frequently Asked Questions:
| Q: | How many butterflies will I need? |
|---|---|
| A: | How many and the way you release your butterflies depends entirely upon the effect you want to create and your budget. This varies from individual release boxes to a spectacular large cage release of one, two, three, dozen or even more. It really is your choice. |
| Q: | When do I place my order? |
| A: | As soon as you can, we will hold reservations on an order for up to a year, 49 days is requested, however most times we have the stock to accommodate memorials on the day. Please note: Availability of butterflies is seasonal, butterflies are cold blooded and they are not available for release generally from the beginning of July to mid of September. |
| Q: | Do you deliver the butterflies? |
| A: | Yes we do deliver your butterflies. They will be delivered/couriered to you either the day before or the morning of your event. Final delivery arrangements will be made by phone the week before. It is necessary for someone to personally take delivery as they will not be left unattended. All orders come with instructions. We do recommend a 'butterfly attendant' be appointed as this will ensure your butterfly release is one less thing for you to think about. |
| Q: | When do I release them? |
| A: | Choose what suits your event. In a garden wedding - when you are pronounced wed or at the photo session. At a church wedding - when you exit the building or once again at the photo session. If the weather forecast is for rain or very high winds, use a display cage for the reception and release the butterflies at another time. |
| Q: | Are there particular weather conditions required for a release? |
| A: | Butterflies should only be release on a warm day (above 17 degrees), and out of strong winds. They cannot be release in heavy rain. They should also be released at least 1 hour before sunset to feed and find shelter for the night. |
| Q: | How long do butterflies live for? |
| A: | Some butterflies only live form two days to two weeks, but the Monarch can live 2-7 months depending on the environmental conditions. Once released they continue on their natural lifecycle. You are therefore (with your release) helping to replenish the depleting butterfly population. |
